Sarah Blake is a New Jersey/New York City based artist. She began her training locally before furthering her dance education at the New Jersey Ballet School in their intensive program. In 2015, she became a member of New Jersey Ballet’s pre-professional Junior Company, where she had the opportunity to perform alongside the professional company in ballets such as The Nutcracker, Cinderella, The Sleepy Beauty, Don Quixote, and La Esmerelda. 

 

She holds a BA in Psychology and Dance and Theatre Concentration in Dance with a minor in Business Management from Manhattanville University (May, 2022). While a student she was awarded the Michael Posnick Award for Academic Excellence in Dance and the Greta Levart Award for Continued Artistic Excellence in Dance. During her collegiate training she performed works by Shawn Bible, Michaela McGowan, Sarah Housepian, and Michael Trusnovec among others and was selected to choreograph the 2022 Spring Play, The Green Bird. She obtained her MA in Arts Administration from Baruch College (May, 2024), where she was nominated for the Marlow Prize for Arts Leadership, for her work as a finance consultant for the dance company, Garet&Co and her research on creating arts centers outside of major cities.

Professionally, she has presented her choreography at festivals including KoDaFe in NYC (July 2022), 303030 (December 2023, December 2025), the Queens Outdoor Festival (October 2024, October 2025), the Spark Theatre Festival (October 2022, March 2025, September 2025, October 2026), Extensions Dance Project's Showcase (May 2025), and the DanceAction Garden Series (August 2025). In Spring of 2026, she returned to Manhattanville as an Alumni Guest Choreographer, creating a new work for the Dance Department’s Spring Dance Concert. As a performer, she has danced with companies, Chutzpah Dance, sarAika movement collective, Extensions Dance Project and Laura Ardner Choreography.  While furthering her training at intensives with Stewart/Owen Dance (Asheville, NC) and Vim Vigor (Ann Arbor, MI).

As an educator, she has taught ballet, contemporary, modern, musical theatre, and jazz at studios throughout Northern New Jersey since 2018. Currently, she is the Middle and High School Dance Team Coach and Middle School Musical Choreographer for the West Essex Regional School District. As musical choreographer she has choreographed musicals such as, The Little Mermaid Jr., High School Musical Jr. and currently working on Shrek Jr. 

 

Administratively, she worked in the Finance Department at American Ballet Theatre, where she continues to volunteer at company events. Currently, she works as an Instructional Assistant for the North Caldwell Public School District. As both an educator and administrator, she is passionate about expanding access to the arts by creating meaningful programming that serves individuals of all ages and abilities.
